Wealth Tax
Chile does not impose a wealth tax. There is no annual tax on net worth or total assets. Proposals for a wealth tax have been part of political debates but have not been enacted.

Inheritance / Estate Tax
Chile levies an inheritance and gift tax (Impuesto a las Herencias y Donaciones) at progressive rates from 1% to 25%. The tax applies to the net value of inheritances or gifts exceeding exempt thresholds. Inheritances to direct heirs (spouse, children) benefit from personal exemptions of 50 UTA and 600 UTA for the surviving spouse. The top rate of 25% applies to very large inheritances exceeding 1,200 UTA to distant relatives or unrelated persons.

Property Tax
Property taxes (Contribuciones de Bienes Raíces) in Chile are levied by the SII on the assessed value (avalúo fiscal) of real estate. The general rate is 1.2% for non-agricultural properties and 1.0% for agricultural properties, applied to the assessed value. A surcharge of 0.025% applies to residential properties valued above approximately CLP 400 million. Properties with assessed values below certain thresholds are exempt. Assessed values are typically below market value and are reappraised periodically.
