Uruguay imposes a net wealth tax (Impuesto al Patrimonio) on both individuals and companies. For individuals, the tax applies to net assets (assets minus liabilities) exceeding approximately UYU 5.3 million, with progressive rates from 0.1% to 0.3% for residents and up to 1.5% for non-residents on Uruguayan-source assets. Companies pay wealth tax at 1.5% on net assets located in Uruguay. Free trade zone companies are exempt.
