Rwanda levies progressive income tax with rates from 0% to 30%. The first RWF 360,000 annually is tax-free. Employment income is taxed through PAYE. Non-residents are taxed at 30% on Rwandan-sourced income.

Corporate Tax

The standard corporate tax rate is 30%. Registered investors in priority sectors may enjoy preferential rates as low as 0% for up to 7 years. Companies in the Kigali International Financial Centre benefit from a 15% rate. Small businesses pay a flat tax of 3% of turnover.

Capital Gains Tax

Capital gains tax is levied at 5% on gains from the disposal of commercial immovable property and shares. Listed shares on the Rwanda Stock Exchange are exempt. The gain is the difference between the selling price and the purchase price.
