Inheritance / Estate Tax
Russia abolished inheritance tax in 2006. Inherited property is not subject to income tax. However, if the heir sells inherited property before the minimum holding period (3 years for property received as inheritance), capital gains tax applies on the sale.

Property Tax
Russia levies an annual property tax (nalog na imushchestvo) on real estate owned by individuals, calculated based on cadastral value at rates set by municipalities up to 0.1% for residential properties, 0.5% for other properties, and 2% for high-value properties (above RUB 300 million). A transport tax applies to vehicles based on engine power. Land tax is levied at rates up to 0.3% for agricultural and residential land, and 1.5% for other land.
