Argentina Wealth & Property Tax
Detailed wealth & property tax rates and rules for Argentina in 2026.
Wealth Tax
Argentina imposes a Personal Assets Tax (Impuesto sobre los Bienes Personales) on the worldwide assets of residents and Argentine-source assets of non-residents. For 2024, rates range from 0.5% to 1.75% on assets exceeding the non-taxable minimum (approximately ARS 100 million, adjusted for inflation). Assets held abroad are subject to higher rates unless repatriated. The government has been gradually reducing rates as part of fiscal reform, with plans to eventually phase out this tax.

Inheritance / Estate Tax
Argentina does not impose a federal inheritance or estate tax. The province of Buenos Aires levies a provincial inheritance tax (Impuesto a la Transmisión Gratuita de Bienes) at progressive rates of up to 6.6% on inheritances and gifts exceeding certain thresholds. Some other provinces have considered similar measures, but most do not currently have an inheritance tax.

Property Tax
Property taxes in Argentina are levied at the provincial and municipal levels. Each province imposes an Inmobiliario (real estate tax) based on the fiscal valuation of property, with rates typically ranging from 0.2% to 2% depending on the jurisdiction and property type. Municipalities may levy additional charges for urban services (Tasas). Property valuations for tax purposes are often well below market value.
